The Community Advisory is made up of individuals with disabilities and organizations who are seeking change in the community which will enhance the lives of persons with disabilities. The Community Advisory discusses pertinent issues that are important in making these changes and gathers information that will help meet the needs of people with disabilities. 

Educational opportunities regarding disability rights laws and advocacy 
are also available, ask us!

Personal Attendants Needed

Do you know of a good and reliable personal attendant? Do they need to work more hours? Do you know someone who would like to assist people with disabilities? The Independent Living Center is recruiting personal attendants for the registry. Please have them come in to complete an application at the Van Nuys Service Center, 14354 Haynes Street, Van Nuys, CA. The office is open Monday thru Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.  (818) 988-9525



Legal Services

Are you in need of legal services or advice? The San Fernando Bar Association offers free legal consultations to clients of the Independent Living Center. Legal consultation is held once a month at ILCSC. For more information or to sign up, please call William Diaz at 818-988-9525.

LILA - Living Independently in Los Angeles

What is LILA? LILA is an online partnership of Westside Center Independent Living Center and UCLA. It's a project that allows individuals to share new resources that are accessible to people with disabilities. Through collaborative efforts with local government, ILCSC and private non-profit community service agencies, the LILA information system also incorporates public and agency databases relevant to the disability community. LILA can be reached through the ILCSC "Resources" web page at WWW.ILCSC.ORG. If you don't have access to a computer and would like to search for resources in your community through LILA, you are welcome to use the Van Nuys Service Office LILA workstation.
