Responsibilities
Over 60 years, Toastmasters has maintained a high degree in its standard of excellence. Below are some of the many points which have helped each club along with its members to achieve this standard of excellence. Each member should be responsible for the following:
Any member who cannot attend to fulfill a duty should notify the Educational V.P. as soon as possible prior to the day of the meeting. This will give the Educational V.P. time to find a replacement and also give the replacement time to prepare so as to maintain program continuity.
Each member assigned a task should acquaint himself thoroughly on the duty and be able to explain it to the members where applicable. Major assignments should be prepared in advance. Ask any of the officers if you need any assistance in preparing your assignments.
Every effort will be made to give members a speaking assignment every four to five weeks. If you want to speak more frequently, please advise the Educational V.P. to see if it can be fitted in.
Every week a theme is assigned for a meeting such as Autumn, Spring, and sports. The President, Grammarian, Table Topics Master and possibly the speakers should work this theme into their program.
All or almost all of your speeches should be from the Communication and Leadership Program manual. At the end of the manual, there is a section called "Record of Projects." When you have given your speech that evening you should fill in the speech title and date. Also, you should have the Educational V.P. initial it.
Before speaking, whether to introduce someone, give a Table Topic, give a report or just answer a question, one should rise and then speak.
Read the Communication and Leadership manual to review the duties of a specific functionary or Chairmanship.
Always be prepared when assigned to any duties in the Club.
