Homebound (Due to Your Disability) & Need to Apply for a California I.D. from the DMV?

Are you a person with a disability who is homebound due to a disability, and wants to apply for an I.D. from the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), but cannot visit the local DMV Office?

The ILCSC suggests that you follow this process:

  1. Call the DMV at (800) 777-0133. Tell them that you have a disability, are homebound and cannot visit the DMV in person.
  1. Tell them that you need an accommodation from them under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  1. The DMV then should make an appointment with you for a home visit to complete the process.
  1. If you have any questions or concerns during this process, please call the ILCSC at (818) 988-9525 or (661) 942-9726, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
